In May of 2008 Linnea’s life was tragically and unexpectedly taken, but her spirit and passion for animals lives on through the Linnea Memorial Foundation that cares for animals in need through donations to local animal charities.

“ANIMALS MAKE US HUMAN” BY TEMPLE GRANDIN and CATHERINE JOHNSON. Temple Grandin, a Colorado State University Professor was selected one of Time Magazine’s most influential people of 2010. She ranked 31 on Time’s List. The list recognizes the activism, innovation and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals. As a child, Grandin was diagnosed with autism, and her parents were told she should be institutionalized. But Grandin, who once described her condition as making her “like an animal with no instincts to guide me,” used that perspective to become one of the world’s most respected advocates for the humane treatment of livestock. Grandin earned her doctorate and became an author, writing books about animals – “Animals in Translation” and “Animals Make Us Human” and about autism—“The Way I See It: A Personal Look at Autism and Aspergers.” A professor of animal sciences at Colorado State University and president of Grandin Livestock Handling Systems Inc. Grandin’s exposure and popularity spiked this year with the February release of the HBO biopic, “Temple Grandin.” The story introduced her for the first time to many people. Greyhound Running by Megan Lazarsky. Megan Lazarsky a chemistry grad student at CSU. Recently, my dog was attacked by several other dogs and we accrued a monstrous vet bill. Several people in my life helped me and my husband out with those bills under the only pretense that someday we would "pay it forward" to others in need. I decided to create several drawings/paintings (depicting three stages of a running greyhound) to thank those people that helped me, but then realized that I could also use these pictures to do my part. I would like to donate a couple of those drawings to the Linnea Memorial Pet Walk for the silent auction. I think this is an excellent foundation and I would love to help needy animals in this way.
